Stemergy: Renewable Fibre Technology

Flax Fibre Products

Stemergy is ready to help with your bio fibre and flax fibre needs. We can provide you with a range of flax fibre material formats and our current offering includes both refined and general use grades of flax fibre suitable for a wide range of applications.

Flax Fibre

The primary flax fibre, which are the long fibres on the outside of the stalk, make an excellent high strength natural reinforcing fibre for composites. The core flax fibre on the inside of the stalk is a highly absorbent, spongy material used mainly as a specialty filler for composites as well as for animal bedding, garden mulch.

Both of these flax fibres are highly versatile and available in a range of formats depending on the end application. Stemergy can custom design a flax fibre according to your needs. Stemergy flax fibres are available in different package formats and quantities to meet your production or end use requirements.

Primary Flax Fibre:

The primary flax fibres are extracted from the outside portion of the stalk and are high strength and light weight. These flax fibres are being used in a range of modern applications and first gained prominence in the composites industry in Europe in the early 1990's for use in interior trim parts in cars. Since that time these fibres have been widely adopted into numerous applications and are increasingly being used to replace expensive, non-renewable oil based fibres and glass fibres. Since the main energy source used to create the flax primary fibres is the sun, these fibres are truly a renewable resource that can be incorporated into products we use everyday. The primary flax fibres are available in a range of staple length and purity levels.

Core Flax Fibre

The core flax fibre, also known as flax shives, can be used as a filler for blending with thermoplastics. Flax core fibre is ideally suited to any applications where the fibres can provide a combination of space and useful mechanical properties. The flax core fibre can be packaged in a range of formats including bulk transport trucks, bulk totes or specialty packages. The core flax fibre can be produced in a variety of sizes with a number of standard materials or custom sizes available according to your end applications.
